FILMS on FRIDAY

See a new or classic film or a documentary at the library every Friday at 2:00 PM 

12/6- NOWHERE BOY-Set in Liverpool in 1955,this film chronicles the adolescent years of John Lennon being raised by his straight-laced Aunt Mimi when his free-spirited mother re-enters his life, opening up old wounds and encouraging his love for writing and music. Aaron Johnson and Kristin Scott Thomas star in this R-rated film.

12/13 - THE WIFE – Based on the novel by Meg Horowitz, this is a story of the couple's youthful passion and ambition interwoven with a portrait of a marriage, thirty-plus years later, a lifetime's shared compromises, secrets, betrayals, and mutual love. Starring Glenn Close and Max Irons. Rated R.

12/20 – SCROOGED - Modern version of Dickens' A Christmas Carol, with Bill Murray portraying a nasty, uncaring, unforgiving TV network president. On Christmas Eve he is visited by three ghosts who show him the error of his ways.  Rated PG-13

12/27 – FINDING YOUR FEET - On the eve of retirement, a judgmental middle class snob discovers her husband has been having an affair. She is forced to move to London with her bohemian sister who lives on an impoverished inner-city council estate.  Joanna Lumley, Imelda Stauton, Timothy Spall star in this PG-13 film.


BOOK CLUB

ADULTS:  We have two options, afternoon or evening!

The Afternoon group will be meeting on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 4:00 PM.  The December selection for the afternoon group is Moloka'i by Alan Brennert.   *This month's discussion will take place on December 11th @ 3:00 PM.* Copies are available at the Circulation desk. Pick up a copy and join in!  

The Evening group will continue to meet on the fourth Thursday* of the month at 7:00 PM. December's title is: Hillbilly Elegy by J.D. Vance. We will meet on Dec. 19 at 7 PM, a week early due to Christmas holiday.

DUPLO PLAY DAY

Drop in between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM every Friday to build whatever you like with our Duplo collection. Suggested for ages 2 to 6.


STORY TIME

**Please note that all morning storytimes are on break from Dec. 16 to Jan. 3**

• Monday: Terrific Two’s and Three’s (18 to 36 mo.) at 10:00 AM
• Tuesday: Playful Pre-School (3 to 5 yrs.) at 10:00 AM
• Thursday: Wonderful One’s (Birth to 24 mo.) at 10:00 AM


MEDICARE and INSURANCE HELP

If you’re 65 or older and need help with Medicare or medical insurance, you can sign up to receive assistance on Mondays at 9, 10, or 11 AM. Visits are by appointment only. If these times are not convenient, please contact us to arrange a more convenient time. Counselors are RSVP and APPRISE certified. PINOCHLE

New Day and Time as of October 9th, 2019. 

Mondays from 10:30-12:30. Wednesdays from 11 am to 1pm.  Friday games are discontinued.

ADULT KNIT/CROCHET GROUPS

Now there are two options! Mondays at 1 PM and Wednesdays at 6:30 PM! Break out the yarn and come join us!


BRIDGE GROUP

Join the group for bridge on Fridays from 1:30 to 3:30 PM. Come in and play a hand of party bridge! Refresh your memory on the rules, meet new friends and hone your skills! Limited to 3 tables.


MAH JONGG (麻将)

Play rousing games of Mah Jongg at the library on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 12:15 PM and Tuesdays at 10:30 am. Please be sure to have your own Mah Jongg card. Call for information.


SOCRATES CAFÉ

Socrates Café meets each Monday evening at 7:00 PM to discuss, share, and explore topical issues. No need to register; just come with your thoughts and an open mind.


TEEN TIME

Teens in grades 6 to 12 are welcome to come to the library for Teen Time every Tuesday afternoon from 3 to 5 PM.
